Making their debut in Ireland at Europe’s premier farming event, these impressive machines are the result of grand design and unequalled attention to detail. Serious tractors for serious agri-businesses.

The Fendt 1000 Vario is the first high-horsepower tractor to have the comprehensive low engine speed concept – Fendt ProDrive. This approach has involved all the key vehicle components – engine, transmission, cooling system, hydraulics – to be precisely co-ordinated with each other during the course of development.

Each was designed and specified according to a ‘high torque – low engine speed’ principle to maximise overall performance, while minimising fuel consumption.

The four-model range spans 380hp to 500hp, powered by compact MAN six-cylinder engines . All  are equally at home when performing transport tasks at speeds of up to 60kph or, thanks to a low unladen weight of just 14 tonnes, precision drilling work.

Sean Gorman, Area Sales Manager for Fendt, explains the extent to which the benchmark for high horsepower – 400hp-plus – wheeled tractors has been raised to a whole new level by the 1000 Series.

“Firstly, take the engines. Developed using Fendt ID technology, they enable the tractor to achieve maximum torque at low revs – between 1100 and 1500 rpm – considerably less than other tractors in this power bracket. This, in turn, results in a highly fuel-efficient machine,” he states.

This level of performance is aided considerably by the Concentric air/cooling system, which makes the 1000 Series 75 per cent more efficient than tractors fitted with standard cooling systems.

The independently-driven front and rear axles perform without the need for driver intervention, ensuring maximum traction is achieved in all conditions – with great assistance from the tyres. The front tyres  are specified 710 60R38, which is a popular choice for the rear axle of many 200hp tractors, while the rear tyres are 900 65R46 – specially designed for the Fendt 1000 Series.

Ballasting is another area that Fendt has studied hard with the aim of producing enhanced machine performance. Flexible ballasting can be achieved from 14 tonnes up to 21 tonnes. But, thanks to the innovative Grip Assistant  feature, the tractor is able to calculate automatically the level of ballast required to achieve optimum overall performance.

Increasingly seen by users as a ‘must-have’ – rather than a ‘maybe’ option –  on a new tractor – the Fendt VarioGuide self-steer system delivers significant savings in costs and time. By avoiding over- and under-lapping, every inch of every field is released for maximum crop production – and not using fuel unnecessarily – while the operator has the time to monitor all vehicle functions to ensure optimum task performance.  VarioGuide offers varying degrees of accuracy to satisfy individual requirements and can be transferred between tractors.

Also present for inspection on Fendt’s stand at the Creggan event will be models from the well-established and highly-regarded 700, 500 and 300 Series tractors, together with the Fendt team, who will be happy to tell you all you want to know about these remarkable machines.

Waterloo, Belgium – EMS (Embankment Machinery Sales) will be showing the Bobcat range of telehandlers alongside the Doosan range of excavators and wheel loaders for the first time at the 2016 National Ploughing Championships, taking place in Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly in Ireland from 20-22 September 2016.

This follows on from the new appointment of EMS by Doosan Bobcat EMEA as the Authorised Dealer for the Bobcat telehandler range in Leinster. Seamus Flynn, Sales Director at EMS, said: ”We are delighted to be appointed Bobcat telehandler dealer and are very excited to be in a position to supply our customers with the broad offering of Bobcat telehandler models. The range starts from 5.8 m and goes up to 18 m in rigid chassis machines, covering all of the agricultural and the majority of construction applications. There is also a 4 model range of Roto machines from 16 to 25 m to complete the offering for applications that require extra height.”

EMS also has exclusivity for sales and service in Leinster for the full range of Doosan crawler and wheeled excavators from 3 to 53 tonne and the full range of Doosan wheel loader models with bucket capacities from 1.9 to 4.8 m³. In addition, EMS is selling the Doosan range of mini- and midi-excavators throughout the Republic of Ireland. EMS is currently in the process of moving to new modern premises at the Naas Enterprise Park, providing a trebling in both office and workshop space.

Attended by over 281,000 visitors in 2015, the National Ploughing Championships will see a display of several Bobcat telehandler models for the farming and construction industries, next to a comprehensive selection of Doosan equipment on the EMS stand. The latter will include the DX63-3 6 tonne conventional tail swing excavator and the new Doosan DX140W-5 Stage IV 14 tonne wheeled excavator. The new Doosan Stage IV wheel loader range will also be a feature along with the new Stage IV compliant DX140LCR-5 15 tonne reduced tail swing crawler excavator, the DX225LC-3 crawler excavator and the DX27Z mini-excavator.

New Generation Bobcat Telehandlers

Over the last four years, a new generation of Bobcat telehandlers has been introduced, including the TL358/TL358+, TL360 and TL470 5 to 7 m models aimed primarily at the agricultural market and the T35105, T35105L and T36120SL 10-12 m middle lift models; the new T35130S 13 m and T35140S 14 m models and the top-of-the-range T40140 14 m and T40180 18 m telehandlers aimed at applications in construction. These machines are all covered by a new standard three year warranty from Bobcat.

In the Doosan display, one of the stand-out features on the DX63-3 excavator is the dramatic increase in hydraulic performance, which has been boosted with an impressive 33% increase in maximum flow rate to 132 l/min. In addition, the hydraulic system now incorporates a load sensing system which guarantees high hydraulic performance and allows smooth and efficient combined operations.

Setting a New Benchmark

Like all Doosan Stage IV compliant machines, the new DX140W-5 14 tonne wheeled excavator features a distinctive new machine styling scheme marking the many design advances it incorporates, which go well beyond simply meeting Stage IV emission regulations and set a new benchmark for wheeled excavators worldwide.

The DX140W-5 has the same 6-cylinder Doosan engine and power output as the Stage IIIB machine, but has 5% more traction force, ensuring superior performance compared to the previous generation machine. Another important aspect of the new model is the ‘CabSus’ cab suspension system which reduces vibration and provides a 1 dBA reduction in cab noise, further increasing safety and comfort for the operator.

Higher Power – Lower Fuel Consumption

The new Doosan DX140LCR-5 excavator offers increased performance, durability and fuel efficiency, with a focus on greater power, robustness and versatility. Power is provided by the Perkins 1204F engine, which combines reduced fuel consumption with the power and torque of larger engines with a smaller displacement. The new Perkins 1204F engine provides a 6% increase in power with an output of 85.9 kW (115.3 HP) at 2000 rpm and a 3% increase in torque. Swing torque has also been boosted by 28%.

Irish farmers are among the first in Europe to be able to examine in detail the new Case IH Maxxum range of tractors, with the new Stage IV emissions-compliant line making its show debut at this year’s National Ploughing Championships. The new machines will be first shown nationally in the UK at LAMMA 2017 in January.

As before the range comprises Maxxum, Maxxum Multicontroller (MC) and Maxxum CVX models, with each series comprising four models with four-cylinder engines, now rated at 115-145hp. In addition, at the top of the line there is a six-cylinder alternative, the Maxxum 150 and Maxxum 150 MC, which also produces 145hp.

“This is a power bracket that’s particularly popular among Irish farmers and contractors,” says Ross Macdonald, Case IH Maxxum product specialist.

“The new Maxxum models have been upgraded in a number of areas to suit this market, with features including enhanced front suspension to improve field and road ride, an exhaust brake to make hill descents safer, revised spool valve layout for quicker, easier coupling, and a redesigned loader frame to make attaching and detaching easier.”

Withpower boost available for PTO and transport applications, maximum power ratings are from 145-179hp.Stage IV emissions rules are met through the use of a Hi-eSCR system comprising selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), in line with the Case IH Efficient Power concept of achieving fuel efficiency, economy and low emissions without the use of a diesel particulate filter.

Turning power into performance

All Maxxum tractors are equipped with FPT Industrial NEF engines, with four-cylinder models featuring a 4.5-litre powerplant and six-cylinder models a 6.7-litre unit.Standard fuel tank capacity on Maxxum models is 195 litres, with a 220-litre option,while Maxxum MC and Maxxum CVX tractors benefit from a 220-litre tank with a 230-litre option. Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF/AdBlue) tanks hold 39.5 litres on all models.

Maxxum and Maxxum MC tractors are available with either16F/16R (40km/hr) or 17F/16R (50km/hr) four-range semi-powershifttransmissions, with 32 speeds available in either direction where the optional creep speed transmission is specified. Maxxum CVX models, meanwhile, feature the Case IH CVX continuously variable transmission (CVT), coupled withAutomatic Productivity Management engine speed/gear monitoring and ECO Drive minimum/maximum engine speed setting to further improve fuel efficiency.An engine brake now features on the Maxxum for the first time, to help retard the engine and reduce brake stress when driving down steep hills.

Styling with practical benefits

New Maxxum tractors have undergone a significant restyling, with new design details from the bonnet through to the cab roof. The new styling not only gives the tractors a fresh appearance, but also has practical benefits, ranging from rear mudguards which now extend over the tyres completely, and allow the possibility to fit 650/65R38 rear tyres, to new and improved headlights in the re-sculpted radiator grille and new work lights in the front and rear of the cab roof. Daytime vision is also improved by the new styling, with the front windscreen now being a single unit with an extended upper view, aiding forward visibility particularly when operating a front loader.

Operator enhancements

In the cab, alternatives to the standard seat now include optional Deluxe Comfort and Deluxe Leather versions. Cab comfort is further enhanced by the addition of a second pressure accumulator on the front axle to deliver enhanced damping, improving both road ride and field traction, and through a lengthening of the wheelbase to 2,642mm, a change which has had no effect on turning circle.

Built to handle heavy equipment

Permitted gross weight on all Maxxum models is 9.5 tonnes. To enhanceride smoothness, reduce operator fatigue and limit tractor/implement stress, an electronic vibration suppression system minimises any see-saw motion created by rear-mounted equipment. Meanwhile, implement hitching has been made easier by relocating the spool valves to the left and right of the top link bracket. In addition, the covers are now colour-coded to make them simple to identify. Standard Maxxum models are equipped with up to four mechanical spool valves, while Maxxum MC and Maxxum CVX tractors are supplied with electronic spool valves as standard, operated through the Multicontroller armrest.

Electronic assistance

Maxxum MC and Maxxum CVXmodels can be pre-equipped ex-factory for AFS™ AccuGuideautomated guidance/steering with an AFS Pro 700™ monitor, enabling installation by the dealer of GPS/GLONASS guided auto-steering, should the customer specify it. When combined with a locally-available RTK+ signal, this delivers repeatable precision to within 2.5cm. With the integrated xFill App the system can compensate for any loss of signal for up to 20 minutes.

Maxxum models are also available with the Case IH HMC II headland management system, enablingrepetitive end-of-field operations steps to be recorded and automated. On Maxxum CVX tractors, compatible implements can be operated via ISOBUS through the AFS terminal, the tractors being fitted with a Class III system which not only provides on-screen implement control, but also allows compatible implements to control individual functions of the tractor, such as its forward speed, PTO speed or operation of its rear hitch, to further improve tractor/implement combination efficiency.

Well-suited to loader work

All Maxxum models are available pre-equipped for front loader installation, with a wider front loader frame and the new single-section front windscreen aiding attachment visibility, as does a new wiper arrangement with integral washer. Turning radius when equipped with 480/65R28 front tyres is 5.5m, aiding manoeuvrability around yards.

All Maxxum models can be equipped with the full range of lighting options up to and including the 360° LED package, which provides daytime-quality illumination during darkness.

Also on the stand

In addition to the new Maxxum, Case IH will also be showing the outgoing Maxxum in the shape of the Maxxum 110, with a special end-of-line offer at the event, and a model of the outgoing Farmall U Pro range, subject to a similar offer as it makes way for the new Case IH Luxxum. Other machines on the stand include an Optum CVX 300, a Puma CVX 240 and a Puma CVX 175, a Farmall 105C and a Farmall 105A.
