It’s hard to believe we’re heading into yet another ploughing, the year is flying! This year the Irish Farmers Journal has increased its stand presence once again to make it our biggest stand presence to date!
This year we are really excited about our “Bin Your Bills For 1 Year” competition which one lucky reader will win top of the range prizes for a year (See Page 15 Opposite). To enter, readers simply need to collect 4 tokens from 6 issues of the Irish Farmers Journal from 24 September to 04 November 2015 and complete the entry form which will be printed in the paper on subsequent weeks.
The Irish Farmers Journal news app has only recently been launched and it is our very first native news app which is available to download on all Android and Apple devices. Our new app is free to download and is updated with farming news and technical content all day, every day to complement our print offering. Plus, all readers who visit our stand and show our team that they’ve downloaded the news app will be given a special bonus token to enter our bin your bills competition!
In addition to our news app, don’t forget to also download our Ploughing 2015 app which along with a site map, traffic plan and programme of events, now has a special “find my car” feature which means you never have to worry about finding your car again! Readers can also look forward to enjoying free public wifi on our stand as well as our really popular mobile phone charging zone.
This year we are running multiple Livestock Demonstrations every day in partnership with Bord Bia and ICBF. The demonstrations will focus on giving farmers answers to key questions for all the main livestock sectors – beef, sheep, dairy and the suckler cow. We will examine the relationship between specially chosen stock for our demonstrations and the linkage with global export markets which our industry is based on. Breeding 5 star replacements is a key goal of the new Beef Data Genomics Programme (BDGP) and in each demonstration we will assess the challenges of the BDGP scheme for Suckler farmers.
The Irish Country Magazine area of our stand is the place to visit for a little bit of fashion, glamour and something uniquely different. We will have an exhibition from award winning Irish milliner Caithriona King to help you find that perfect hat along with free manicures daily. There will also be plenty of competitions with great prizes to be won and don’t forget to pick up our new issue of Irish Country Magazine before it hits the shop shelves!
Irish Country Living’s celebrity chef Neven Maguire is back again this year to cook up a storm on the Irish Farmers Journal’s stand and keep readers entertained each day! Irish Country Living will also be announcing the winners of FBD’S National Farmyard Awards on Tuesday evening from 5pm on the Irish Farmers Journal’s stand. If you are still on site that evening, do visit our stand for the presentation of these prestigious awards.
For the 9th year running we are partnering with the Road Safety Authority and FBD and we will be giving away 50,000 FREE hi-vis vests from our stand over the 3 days of the Ploughing. Our merchandise shop will also be a hive of activity with a special Ploughing T-shirt due to be unveiled along with our 2016 Diary and our Women & Agriculture Conference tickets- be sure to get in early as tickets sell out every year!
Finally, our editorial team from the Irish Farmers Journal, Irish Country Living and Irish Country Magazine would love to hear from you and do ask to speak to any member of our team when you visit our stand. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Ploughing!
