Sisters Áine Lecky and Eibhlin Murphy directors of Major Equipment Intl Ltd, based in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo were winners of last years Anna May McHugh Leadership award at the National Ploughing Championships and since then have been concentrating their efforts on reaching world markets. This year they will have new product launches and show case what women are achieving in the otherwise male dominated machinery sector.
Speaking a year on from winning the award Eibhlin said that it was something they were very proud of and it had a hugely positive effect on their business. “We have been working hard on building relationships in many parts of the world and to have our Australian dealers comment on the award adds an element of credibility to what we are doing. It gives reassurance to our suppliers that we are committed to the longer term and vested in growing our business.”
The company designs and manufactures innovative grass cutting, slurry handling and site equipment for the agricultural, amenity and industrial sectors.
The company was established in 1976 bytheir father John Murphy and his brother Mark Murphy.
