Ireland Competes in Europe

Irish Ploughing hope to secure another victory on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th Sept at the 30th European Reversible Ploughing Championships in Bad Rothenfelde, Germany. Our current world ploughing gold medallist, John Whelan, took first place in last year’s competition in Derry.

The 2013 team consists of Ger Coakley from Cork and Paul Keating of Wexford both well experienced and keen competitors on the national ploughing scene. They will be coached by Denis Keohane, NPA Director, Cork and Donegal’s Harry Mallon will travel as a judge. The team is sponsored by Kverneland.

Managing Director of the NPA, Ms Anna May McHugh said “This is a fantastic opportunity for our ploughmen to compete on the European stage again and we look forward to seeing them on the field at our own upcoming National Ploughing Championships in Rathensika on the 24th September where the competition will be fierce.” I’d like to take the opportunity to wish both men all the best and hope further success in the future is theirs”.
